Panama Canal Chief: ‘Every Drop of Water Counts’ as Prolonged El Niño Looms
The Administrator of the Panama Canal is warning that the upcoming El Niño season will be longer and is taking the necessary precautions now to conserve water.
“What we see in the future is a very, very low level of precipitation,” said Ricaurte Vasquez, Administrator of the Panama Canal. “We have to look at how long this event is going to last. We anticipate that it's going to last about eight months.”
